Designation of FIRST Sources
In referencing individual sources within the FIRST catalog, it
is recommended that investigators use the full designation, namely:
FIRST Jhhmmss.s+ddmmss
in which the coordinates are equinox J2000.0 and are truncated
(not rounded). This naming convention is
registered
with the
International Astronomical Union and is in agreement with IAU
recommendations found on the WWW at
http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/iau-spec.html.
For example, the FIRST source at
RA(J2000)=08h00m00.099s,
Dec(J2000)=+32°06'09.83"
is named FIRST J080000.0+320609.
